At a time of new trade agreements being discussed with the European Union, the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC) will be present at Anuga, one of the largest and most traditional food fairs in the world, which will be held from October 05 to 09, in the city of Cologne, Germany. The action is carried out in partnership with Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), with which ABIEC develops the Brazilian Beef project, for the international promotion of the national product.

The participation of Brazilian beef will be held in the largest space ever occupied by the Brazilian Beef project at the fair. The booth will have 529 square meters plus 260 square meters from the mezzanine, with the presence of 19 associated companies: Agra, Astra, Barra Mansa, Cooperfrigu, Frigoestrela, Frigol, Frigon, Frigosul, Frigotil, Frisa, Iguatemi, JBS, Marfrig, Masterboi, Mataboi, Mercurio, Minerva, Naturafrig and Rio Maria. During the event, a tasting of the traditional Brazilian barbecue will be promoted, with expectation of the consumption of around 1 ton of beef during the five days of the fair. "It's an event that brings together the main world suppliers and it's important that the Brazilian beef is inserted in this context," evaluates the president of Abiec, Mr. Antonio Jorge Camardelli.

Europe is one of the most important markets for Brazil, accounting for 9% of exports. In 2018 Brazil exported almost 119 thousand tons of meat to the European continent, with revenues of USD 728 million. From January to August this year, 67 thousand tons of beef have been shipped, with revenues of USD 385 million. "Europe is an important and demanding market. And the fair is a great opportunity to show all the quality and control of Brazilian beef, "says Mr. Camardelli.
